Answers about HobbyAlpha card scanning, recent eBay sold comps, buy, sell, hold, or watch verdicts, player outlooks, display cases, pricing, iOS, and Android.

What is HobbyAlpha?

HobbyAlpha is a sports card portfolio app for collectors that scans cards, prices them from recent eBay sold comps, and gives buy, sell, hold, or watch verdicts using player outlooks, news, momentum, and liquidity. It also tracks your collection in a shareable digital display case on web, iOS, and Android.

Where do prices come from?

HobbyAlpha uses recent eBay sold comps for the specific player, set, parallel, serial number, and grade when those sales are available.

What does buy, sell, hold, or watch mean?

The verdict combines player outlooks, news, momentum, liquidity, supply, career stage, and comparable card prices into a clear action with supporting context.

Does it work on iOS and Android?

Use HobbyAlpha on the web, or install the mobile web app from Safari on iOS and Chrome on Android. It is a responsive progressive web app (PWA), not a separate App Store or Google Play download.

What is HobbyAlpha?

HobbyAlpha is a sports card portfolio app for collectors. It scans and prices cards from recent eBay sold comps, provides player outlooks and buy, sell, hold, or watch guidance, and organizes your collection in a shareable digital display case.

Is it free?

Yes — most features work on the free plan. A few advanced tools are Pro (paid), and they're clearly marked. You can see exactly what's included on the Pricing page.

How do I scan a card?

From the Dashboard, click Scan, then upload or snap a photo of the front of the card. After a few seconds you'll get the player, the card details, and an estimated value.

How many scans do I get?

Free accounts get a set number of scans per day. Pro unlocks more scans and lets you scan many cards at once.

Can I add cards without a photo?

Yes. To add one card, open a display case and click Add card, then type in the details. To add a lot at once, open Import and upload your list as a CSV file.

How does HobbyAlpha make buy sell hold sports cards decisions?

The verdict uses player outlooks, news, momentum, liquidity, supply, career stage, and comparable card prices. Buy means the card may be undervalued, Hold means keep it without adding, Sell means the market may be ahead of itself, and Watch means the evidence is not strong enough yet.

Does HobbyAlpha work on iOS and Android?

Yes. HobbyAlpha is a responsive web app and installable PWA. Use it in a browser, install it from Safari on iOS, or install it from Chrome on Android. It is not a separate App Store or Google Play download.

Where do the prices come from?

HobbyAlpha pulls real eBay sold listings for your specific card — the exact player, set, parallel, and serial number — and uses those actual transaction prices as the anchor. AI fills in context when comps are thin.
